The adapter plate allowed us to use our XM radio in the Gorge home where we have poor standard reception.

Much better than many full size stereos I have heard. Just insert portable x-m player and you have outstanding,full sound. Not the cheapest option,but you get what you pay for.
I have an Audiovox radio that I bought the boombox for and I later got an Inno from Woot.com. The Inno allows me to play recorded XM and personal MP3s on the boombox as well. Not much to say about this product except that it works and works well. With the adapter, I can use either radio in the boombox.
